Chicago Summer Guide 2016
Chicago summer’s can’t be beat. It is the sole reason we Chicagoan’s bear 6 months of bitter cold… and question ourselves the entire time. The minute the weather reaches a balmy 60 degrees the streets fill up and the possibilities are endless. What do we do with all of this time that we can now spend outside??? Well, I’m here to help with a Chicago Summer 2016 guide.
Attend an outdoor concert:
There are so many of these! Every Monday and Thursday Millenium Park hosts a Concert in the Park. I can’t promise that the music is always the best but with the right company (aka my co-workers) and a little wine, it can’t be beat. And hello… it’s FREE!
Lollapalooza is hosted in Chicago every year as well. This year they are celebrating 25 years and have extended the festival an extra day. Not up for 4 full days of music? You can buy single day passes, too!
Go to a Cubs Game:
Go Cubs Go! Every year you hear the die-hard fans say “This is the year the Cubs win the World Series” and usually it’s not. But hey, this year really might be! Much to my dismay because I miss buying tickets for $10. None-the-less, the games are a ton of fun on a summer day… and so is hitting up the Clark Street Bars after.
Hit up a Street Festival:
Every Monday I come into work and tell Meghan and Nicole stories from my weekend, and somehow they always include me attending a street festival. I LOVE them. Street food, live bands, art and overpriced beer… what could be better? Check out my complete summer Street festival guide in the side bar! Pictured above are the Belmont Street Festival and the Logan Square Art Festival.
Ride a Divvy:
Chicago has an awesome city bike system called Divvy, and I am a huge advocate. It’s such a fun and active way to explore the city! I love to go on rides with my “biker gang” or head up the lake path for a Sunday morning activity.
